Emma is a music manager, started out as an artist, she is in publishing music. Her dream was in to be a singer she, got a development deal. Eventually she started doing collaborated song writing career. She eventually started finding artist and nurturing artists helping them develop. She gets brought into work at syco. She partnered up with a music manager to develop artists. She is diverse and puts herself throughout various ranges of music and that helps the company be financially stable. Before someone would find an artist or band and help them get bigger and spread their reach throughout the music industry and get them a record label. Now Artists will already have to be an established artist in order to get themselves a record label, they have to have a platform before going to a record label. Now because the internet has come in because there are many platforms to produce music. She helped her artists be putting them on features which would help establish themselves as an artist and building up a fanbase. Her company is diverse with the type of artists they take. A boy has done a cover of a song that was released 15 years ago and now he has gotten a deal, the song he used was from an artist that the music manager worked with. The artist had released 3 songs prior to it. The song blew up and it is put on playlists and it is put on many Instagram stories. About £500000 pounds is for about 100 million streams, the original video was at 89 million streams and then after the cover, it went to 600 million streams.

It shows how someone like that can rise off of making a cover off of another video. This was spread by a popular makeup tutorial tiktok channel that made a tiktok including the song. Tiktok is a very popular app that has become extremely successful over the past couple years and an app like that really helped spread the song which also affected the original songs popularity as well. It shows the change of how artists rise from the past and to now the way social media has a large impact on the how an artist becomes successful.
Specific things she was scouting for, such as watching performances and seeing how the audience are reacting. She also looks online and sees what their view numbers are or stream numbers are to see of they have a following already. She looks to see how much talent they have. If the person already has a following than they would go for them because it would help make them millions because of the amount of streams and views they could get out of it. There are different ways of doing it and each artist has their different ways and she goes for a wide variety of artists and how she approaches them with different strategies to develop them.She has new artist and old artists. Physical copies of songs are popular in different countries, in the Asian market there is a lot of physical copies of songs, whereas in the UK it is mostly digital and streaming. For music videos, they are used because it is an option for extra revenue.
At the beginning of the song which is "This Is America" by Childish Gambino it introduces us to the setting of the place, the setting of the place is a warehouse, this is done in order to show the people with warehouse jobs in america, this warehouse is empty at first and then as the video progresses there comes even more things in the warehouse such as cars. At the beginning when he is walking up to the chair there is this sort of non-diegtetic sound of Caribbean music being played. This might be done in order to show the people from the Caribbean going to america. The camera starts out on his body but then slowly zooms out as he gets towards the chair, he then shows the trousers he is wearing, the trousers he is wearing is that of the same colour of the southern state army. When he walks up to the person in the chair, their face is covered with cloth, the color of the cloth could be referencing the kkk. When pulls out the gun, he does a Jim Crow pose which could be a reference to how black people are in america and how they are treated. The tone at the start of the song is quite relaxed until he shoots the person in the chair. The gun he is choosing is referencing gun violence in america and how the gun laws are bad and people can normally have a gun, after the gunshot, the tone suddenly gets a lot more intense with the music changing a lot, the music then changes to a rap style beat, this rap style beat is referencing the gang culture the is going on in america and the violence that is caused because of that and while this tune is played in the background the song progressively gets more chaotic. He then says the first line which is this is america and that is when the tone changes which is supposed to show the bad state that america is in.
He starts walking and then back up dancers come in the background, when the backup dancers come in the background, the music continues, cars start driving in the background. In the background there are multiple people coming in with cars, there are people running in with crowbars and baseball bats, while the backup dancers are doing dances of viral trends. The crime that is happening in the background while Childish Gambino is walking references the crime rate in america that is high. The camera is focused in on him and the backup dancers while the back the crime in the background is sort of blurred out, this is done to show that the crime in america is not focused on that much and is a problem, the people doing the popular dances is relevant today with tiktok dances. It shows that these are the main popular things that are happening and get the most attention while the are more important problems that are happening in the country, he keeps on walking.
As the chaos is continuing in the background it seems to show someone casually riding a bisiclye through all of this chaos. The people that are focused on in through these moments are black people in america. This is done in order to show the areas that are populated by mostly black people in america, those urban areas, and he is trying to show that there is a lot of crime and violence in those areas in america. The person riding the bisiclye casually through all of this is quite young, it shows that she is used to it and has lived through this type of stuff throughout her childhood, and that the young people in these areas of america that are going to school are affected by this, and a lot of people that are living through this are at risk. He is trying to show that people who live with this type of thing going into the background can easliy be influenced and then start getting into that type of thing. As the camera pans to the right it starts to show more with a person on top of a car throwing money, this is done to show that in those types of areas people want money as there is a lot of poverty. So engaging in that type of gang culture such as drug dealing can make a lot of money, and the people in those areas dont really have many opportunities to make much money and it shows that money is valued a lot in those certain areas in america.
The camera then does a wipe to a choir singing and then Childish Gambino gets thrown an assault rifle and shoots them down instantly. The Choir that is singing could be a reference to the incident where someone went into Charleston church and shooting and killing a lot of African Americans. This is further shown to highlight the gun problem in America and how dangerous it is. He casually just shoots them down and it shows that guns have become a normal thing for america and everyone has access to them and can easily kill people, He is trying to show that the right to bear arms in america is ruining the country and causing chaos such as killing people in a church choir. The clothing that the people are wearing also resemble school clothing and although Americans don't wear school uniforms it still could be used to reference schools and how school shootings have become a problem and this problem is caused by people having the right to easily get these deadly weapons and can do anything with them.
The camera then pans to the right after the shooting and the music begins then, That music comes in whenever he starts saying "this is america" again, the last time it happened in the video was when he shot the person in the chair, so every time the music starts again is when it involves a gun, showing the gun violence problem in america. It shows a police car driving indicating the amount of crime in the country. There are then people running in with hammers, showing maybe the riots that happen in the country and show that there is chaos in the country. It then wipes back to the background dancers again with police cars in the background this time and even more people running around in the background.There is so much crime happening, the camera then pans to the top where it shows propel filming the crime that is happening below showing that there is so much happening that people are used to it and are now recording it and still nothing is changing and the country is still in the same state. These people that are filming are also wearing bandannas showing the gang violence in the country and has spread to these young people.
It then shows these people still dancing while there is a car on fire in the background and there is even a dark hooded figure on a horse running in the background, this could be referencing the kkk and lynching and how there is ongoing racism in america. There are people breaking into cars and the camera then zooms into Childish Gambino as he pulls a gun sign with his hand and everywhere goes quiet. It then cuts to him on top of cars as it zooms out and there are many cars in the background while he is dancing on top. Then it then moves to the top as it tracks him running away from something, it could be the darkness that is in america and how the country is in a dark state.
The whole song makes references to various things in america such as racism, gang violence, poverty and the gun violence. The overall crime that is happening, and the police not doing much to stop it, and all of these factors have caused america to turn into a bad country in a bad state.
Logos are important to show who the artist it shows what type of artists it is and what their genre they are in. They can distinguish themselves and make themselves recognizable that when someone sees that logo the instantly know who the artist is. Merchndise is also important because it is just free promotion as if someone is walking around with merchandise of an artist, then other people will see it and then it spreads the reach that artist has allowing many more sales of merchandise which would subsequently cause more people to eventually start listening to that artist.

Another Logo I created Was a big skull like face. After I created that skull like face, I then decided to write z's around the face this is to show that signature letter of the band. Another Logo I created was that of a devil face, the devil face is supposed to show the intensity of the rock band that I have created. The final logo I created is the man with the big claws, and with those claws their is a signature z of the band written on them. All of these logo's are done in order to show who my artist is and what genre they are which would help spread the reach to that specific audience.
Andrew Goodwin is a theorist that proposes there are set conventions that can be applied to all music videos.
He says that there is a visual link between the music video and the lyrics. Its how lyrics that the artist says when singing links to the visuals. The visual music video would be edited in a way that would link to the lyrics of the song to show the genre or have a set that would match it.
This is present in a song such as old town road by Lil Nas X which has lyrics about horses in it. The music video features horses in it and this links well.
He also states that there are links between the overall theme of the music video. Editing on the music video might link with the whole mood of the song.

This song takes multiple references from the movie called clueless which features multiple le references to the movie and recreates the scene this is effective in attracting the audience as If the audience understand the reference then some audiences would get interested as it fits in with the song.
Andrew Goodman also said that the song would fit in with the genre. This is present in songs such as shake it off my Taylor swift which is a very upbeat song. It has a bright white background with multiple background dancers that wear different costumes with bright vibrant colors. This is done in order to show the bright genre of pop music. This would help attract that type of young teen audience that are interested in pop
Andrew Goodman also states that songs would be voyeurism. This is when the artists intention is to get the audience to look at them. This is can be done in ways such as the artist sexualising themselves to get the viewers to look at them. For example the Nicki minaj song anaconda clearly sexualises herself with all of the different outfits she is wearing to get people to focus their attention to her witch attracts a lot of viewers.
Another One of Andrew Goodwins conventions are the focus of the main artist. A lot of the time the artist is the main selling point of the music video. There many videos that clearly focus on the artist this is present in song such as stormzy shut up which is one shot of the music video on him. In the video shut up the camera shows stormzy as the main person who is in the middle rapping. In this song he does this to establish himself as the main artist of the song.
Another aspect of music videos is performance based music videos that feature performances such as a band performing.
There can also be narrative based music videos that want to tell a story such as little mix black magic in which the girls get powers that get them more attractive so they can attract men.
There can also be concept based music videos such as ok go's music videos. There are videos that they release such as needing/getting which is when they are in a car and driving with a pole out from the car which collides with multiple objects and makes different sounds
The first album that the artist in the music video has made is called greatest hits. The album cover is just a Vinyl with a red background. It does not really tell much about the artist or the album whatsoever. It is very basic and is probably trying to say that the music is more important than the album. In the music video that I chose does not really relate to his very first album very much as his first album does not really show anything . His music video is much later in his career where he has become more successful. This album cover does not really say anything. His future album covers are more creative and clearly show the theme of his music videos much more effectively and this album cover shows not much as he is just starting out.
When YouTube first appeared it was an open playing field for everyone meaning that everyone had the same opportunity to post a video to reach a certain audience. Music Videos on the website have concept videos which would attract a lot of views. Music videos that a label try to show what type of artist they are.
The music video is a song by Skepta called Shut Down. What this is trying to show is that this character lives in an urban background.
They are trying to show that he lives on the street and has a gang in the background.
Shows that he is trendy with that type of genre being popular in that time period.
Shows that he is living on the streets of London.
They are all wearing nike tracksuits in the song which is trying to reach that type of youth audience.

First of all, I made A post about engagement. The post about the engagement is to do something in order to attract the audience. This may include very funny posts or memes. These types of posts are the things that are the most important and what all artists should prioritize when doing a social media campaign as this would help significantly increase their following. This is why most of the social media posts are engagement-based posts
I then made A post that tells a Story. I put a dark filter on this post to help make it deeper which would help attract more viewers. The captions I use in this post tell a story. This story is supposed to be emotional and it will help audiences be more interested in the artist that is making the song. I want to make myself seem human. That is what people are interested it is the second most important thing in a social media campaign behind engagement.
The Final post I made was a post about promotion in this Post I show I picture of Merchandise The artist is about to sell. I put captions next to this post of the merchandise highlighting the artist's growth in music. This is apart of the promotion That My artist uses In order to contribute to his social Media campaign. This is an aspect that he would use less than others. This is because audiences do not like promotion and being sold something which is why Promotion should be used less however because of the other aspects of the social media campaign, A little bit of promotion is not that bad.
